WHAT IS K-LINk?
Kingston Local Involvement Network (K-LINk) is one of 150 local involvement networks set up nationally to monitor, evaluate and influence health and social care services. It is a network of local individuals and organisations who want Kingston residents to have the best care and support possible.
WHAT DOES K-LINk DO?
It makes a contribution to planning and monitoring local services by providing a channel for people not only to express their views, but also to become involved in looking at these services and, where there is room for improvement, see thatit happens.
WHO CAN JOIN K-LINk?
Anyone who lives in or around the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames.
WHAT COULD I DO?
Lots of things! For instance, you could
• let us know of any concerns you have about health or social care in Kingston
• take part in a project looking at, for instance, cleanliness and hygiene in care homes, or catering and nutrition in hospitals
• join the Steering Group which decides what work K-LINk will carry out
• represent K-LINk on groups or committees set up by other organisations
Or you may just wish to be kept informed of what is going on, and possibly fill in a survey from time to time.

As much or as little as you wish – it depends on the level of involvement you want to take on.
WILL I GET PAID FOR IT?
No, though since you will be a volunteer, reasonable expenses will be paid, and support and training will be available.
WHAT ARE THE POWERS OF A LINk?
LINks will be able to:
• Visit and view places where health and social care services are provided
• Ask for information about those services and expect a response within a specific timescale
• Make recommendations for improving those services and expect a response within a specific timescale
• Refer issues to the local Health Overview and Scrutiny Panel responsible for improving the health of local people and local health services
